From Library Journal The self-published version of this title, called Country Cakes, has sold 100,000 copies. The recipes aren't particularly exciting, but there are a lot of them (more than 500), most of them are easy, and they are generally for homey, old-fashioned cakes. Some use mixes, and some seem like back-of-the-box recipes. Instructions are often minimal, and there are only a handful of headnotes scattered throughout. This is the first of a three-book series; Everyday Pies and Everyday Cookies are to follow. Larger baking collections may want to consider. Copyright 2000 Reed Business Information, Inc.
